Understanding Stress

Dubai’s multicultural, performance-driven environment presents unique challenges. High-pressure careers, long work hours, financial commitments, competitive social environments, or adjusting to expat life can all create chronic tension and add to unresolved difficulties from the past. Without proper tools to manage it, stress may lead to anxiety, burnout, physical health issues, or relationship problems.

How We Can Help

Through therapy, we help you:

  • Recognize physical and emotional signs of chronic stress
  • Understand and shift unhelpful thought patterns or perfectionistic tendencies
  • Learn relaxation methods such as breathing techniques and mindfulness
  • Set boundaries and reduce over-commitment
  • Prioritize self-care without guilt
  • Improve emotional regulation and focus

You’ll begin to feel more grounded, resilient, and in charge of your daily experience—no matter what life throws your way.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Our therapists tailor sessions to your needs using a blend of approaches including:

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • Lifestyle-based strategies including sleep hygiene, scheduling, and body awareness
  • Somatic and breathwork techniques to regulate the nervous system
  • Relational and interpersonal therapy to navigate external stressors
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge stress-inducing thoughts
  • Integration of psilocybin-assisted therapy for chronic stress or burnout (offered with careful screening and where applicable)
  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to develop practical tools for handling stress.
  • Solution-Focused Therapy increases confidence in coping abilities.

Emotional Wellbeing Check

An Emotional Wellbeing Check is a 30 minute consultation to give you an overview of how you are doing with your psychological wellbeing. It will highlight key areas of your wellness and give an indication as to whether there are any areas of your life that would benefit from some attention. Like any other health check up, an emotional wellbeing check is an important part of staying on top of your mental health. With no commitment to engaging in regular therapy, this service offers a useful measure of your overall emotional wellbeing.

When might an emotional wellbeing check be beneficial?

  • Something feels “off”, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is
  • You are considering embarking on therapy, but you remain uncertain as to whether this would be beneficial for you
  • You have a history of mental health difficulties and want to stay on top of your emotional wellbeing

Following the wellbeing check you will be provided with a brief summary report with recommendations from Dr Shamarel. As this is not a service that insurance companies typically reimburse for, you will not be given a formal diagnosis.
