About Services at MapleTree Center
Psychologists at MapleTree Center can help UAE residents who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relational difficulties, attention difficulties, learning concerns, behavioral challenges, memory changes, or major life transitions.
Both psychologists and psychiatrists have advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health concerns. A psychologist is specially trained to provide therapy and psychological assessments. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication; some psychiatrists may also have further training in psychotherapy. In some cases, collaborative care is recommended.
Psychologists at the MapleTree Center, Dubai, offer a range of evidence-based and client-centered psychological services, including individual psychotherapy, coaching, couples therapy, discernment counselling, family mediation, sex therapy, parenting/caregiver support, assessments (psychological, neuropsychological, and psychoeducational), and consultation/training for schools, employers, and healthcare providers.Â
All DHA-licensed psychologists at the MapleTree Center, Dubai, can provide mental health and neurodevelopmental diagnoses within their scope of training, using DSM-5-TR or ICD criteria. When needed, standardized psychological assessments may be used to clarify or confirm diagnoses.
Yes. Psychological services provided at MapleTree are confidential and follow professional ethical standards and regulations put forth by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the Community Development Authority (CDA), and the American Psychological Association (APA). Confidentiality may be limited in situations involving safety concerns or legal requirements.
Administrative Process at MapleTree Center
To book your first appointment, you can directly reach out to your chosen psychologist or our client coordinators by phone, WhatsApp, email, or through our contact form. A referral is not usually required unless requested by your insurance provider or regulation bodies.
We aim to offer timely appointments and minimize wait times. Availability varies depending on the psychologists schedules and the type of service requested.
Our psychologists may offer the option for online sessions via a secure and approved videoconferencing platform when it is needed (e.g. when a client is travelling or is unable to commute to the center) and appropriate (i.e., without any significant risks to safety and effectiveness).
Fees vary depending on the type of service (e.g., therapy, psychological assessment, or couples services). Clear pricing is provided before booking so you can make an informed decision. In certain circumstances, adjusted fee options may be discussed to support accessibility.
MapleTree operates on a pay-and-claim basis. We provide invoices and required documentation for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement, depending on your coverage.
Many insurance providers in the UAE cover psychotherapy and psychological assessments, but the scope of coverage depends on your specific plan. Speak with your insurance provider to understand what your plan covers.
We require advance notice (typically 24 hours) for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee. The cancellation policy is shared and clarified with clients before beginning.
Individual Psychotherapy
During the first session, you and your psychologist will work together to understand why you are seeking therapy and develop a working plan. This may involve discussing your current/recent experiences, history, concerns, questions, wishes, and goals. There is no pressure to disclose or commit to anything that may be intolerable for you.
Therapy may be helpful if you feel overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or unsure how to move forward. Many clients seek support when navigating stress, relationships, work pressures, or emotional difficulties. You and your psychologist will decide together what approach best fits your needs and what may be the best steps moving forward.
Yes. Our psychologists support adults and adolescents (12 years+) and tailor the process to the developmental, emotional, relational, and cultural needs of each person.
The length of therapy varies. Some clients attend for a short period to address a specific concern, while others engage in longer-term work to explore deeper patterns. Many clients notice meaningful improvements within 6–8 weeks, though the pace and duration may differ. You and your psychologist may review progress and adjust the plan as needed.
Our clinicians integrate various evidence-informed approaches, including psychodynamic, trauma-informed, experiential, and skills-based therapies. Your psychologist will draw on the methods most attuned to your goals, strengths, and experiences.
Yes. Sessions are available in person at our clinic in Barsha Heights, Dubai, and online through a secure videoconferencing platform.
Yes. Your privacy is central to our practice. Confidentiality is maintained according to professional and ethical guidelines, with only a few exceptions related to safety.
This is a common concern before therapy. Your psychologist will move at a pace that feels manageable for you and will help you find language, tools, or grounding techniques that make sharing easier. You do not have to verbalize distressing experiences if you are not ready.
Couples Services
MapleTree Center offers several structured options depending on your needs, including couples therapy (to improve communication and relational functioning), family mediation (to facilitate structured conflict resolution), and discernment counseling (for couples uncertain about whether to continue or end the relationship). Your psychologist will help determine the most appropriate format based on your goals.
Couples often come to therapy when navigating communication difficulties, trust concerns, conflict, intimacy challenges, or major life transitions. Therapy offers a structured and supportive space to navigate such issues.
Most sessions involve both partners, though there may be times when your therapist suggests individual check-ins. This depends on the goals of therapy and the needs of each partner.
No. Many couples seek therapy to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, or learn healthier ways of relating before challenges escalate.
Your therapist will not take sides. Their role is to understand both partners’ experiences and help you develop patterns of connection that feel fair, safe, and supportive for both of you.
Your therapist will invite each of you to share your concerns, hopes, and relationship history. Together, you will begin outlining shared goals and identifying the relational patterns that may be contributing to current challenges.
Every couple is different. Some begin to notice changes after a few sessions, while others choose a longer process to rebuild trust and deepen connection. Your therapist will guide you based on your goals.
Yes. Dubai is home to many multicultural couples, and our therapists work with sensitivity to cultural, personal, and relational differences.
Assessments
We offer comprehensive psychodiagnostic, neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and personality assessments for adults and adolescents. Your psychologist will recommend the format most appropriate for your concerns.
Assessments typically involve a clinical interview, standardized testing, and questionnaires. Sometimes collateral information is sought from caregivers, family members, education systems, and/or healthcare providers (with your consent).
The average turnaround time is 10-14 days from the first appointment. The assessment procedures can take 5-8 hours across at least three sessions, including an hour for the clinical interview, 2-4 hours of testing, 1-2 hours to process a comprehensive report, and an hour for feedback.
Yes. After completing the testing and collecting all required information, your psychologist will prepare a detailed report summarizing findings, impressions, and recommendations for next steps.
Assessments can clarify diagnoses, guide treatment planning, help with academic or workplace accommodations, and provide insight into cognitive, emotional, or behavioral patterns. The reports may be shared with treatment providers, educational institutes, or employers as needed and required.
Yes. Assessment results are confidential and shared only with your permission, except in situations related to safety or when disclosure is required by law.
Absolutely. The information shared in the report is often complex and detailed. Your psychologist will meet with you to review the results, answer questions, and discuss personalized recommendations in a supportive way. This is an essential part of the assessment process. Follow-up sessions can be scheduled to clarify findings and support the implementation of recommendations.
Some components can be completed online, but certain standardized tests require in-person administration to ensure accuracy and validity.
