Break Free from the Fears That Hold You Back

Living in a dynamic city like Dubai can sometimes intensify personal fears—whether it’s public speaking, flying, or social situations. While occasional nervousness is normal, intense phobias can disrupt daily life, limit your experiences, and create unnecessary stress.

At MapleTree Psychotherapy Center, we help you understand and overcome these fears through evidence-based therapy designed to build confidence and reduce avoidance.

What Are Phobias?

Phobias are intense, irrational fears of specific objects, situations, or experiences. Some of the most common include:

  • Social phobia – fear of being judged or embarrassed in social settings
  • Public speaking phobia – extreme anxiety when speaking in front of others
  • Specific phobias – fear of heights, flying, needles, animals, elevators, etc.
  • Agoraphobia – fear of crowded places or leaving familiar environments

You may experience physical symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, or nausea—even at the thought of facing the feared situation.

Our Approach to Fear-Based Therapy

We use cognitive and behavioral approaches, including relaxation strategies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDRto:

  • Understand the root cause of your phobia
  • Gradually desensitize you to the feared object or situation
  • Help you build emotional regulation and stress tolerance
  • Boost your self-confidence and sense of control

Our safe and structured methods allow you to face your fears at your own pace—without judgment.

Emotional Wellbeing Check

An Emotional Wellbeing Check is a 30 minute consultation to give you an overview of how you are doing with your psychological wellbeing. It will highlight key areas of your wellness and give an indication as to whether there are any areas of your life that would benefit from some attention. Like any other health check up, an emotional wellbeing check is an important part of staying on top of your mental health. With no commitment to engaging in regular therapy, this service offers a useful measure of your overall emotional wellbeing.

When might an emotional wellbeing check be beneficial?

  • Something feels “off”, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is
  • You are considering embarking on therapy, but you remain uncertain as to whether this would be beneficial for you
  • You have a history of mental health difficulties and want to stay on top of your emotional wellbeing

Following the wellbeing check you will be provided with a brief summary report with recommendations from Dr Shamarel. As this is not a service that insurance companies typically reimburse for, you will not be given a formal diagnosis.
