Adjusting to Transitions with Clarity and Support

Change is a part of life — but even when it’s expected, it can feel destabilizing. Whether you’re relocating, starting a new job, going through a divorce, or grieving a loss, major transitions can stir up uncertainty, grief, or anxiety. You may feel like you’re supposed to be coping, yet emotionally you’re not quite sure where to begin.

At MapleTree Psychotherapy Center in Dubai, we support individuals as they move through life’s turning points. Therapy offers a space to process what’s shifting, understand what it means for you, and move forward with greater emotional balance and self-understanding.

What We Explore in Therapy

Life transitions can affect how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. You may be dealing with:

  • Relocation, whether for work, family, or lifestyle
  • Career changes, promotions, layoffs, or burnout
  • Starting or ending a relationship or marriage
  • Beginning university or moving out for the first time
  • Grieving a loss or adjusting to life after bereavement
  • Retirement or identity shifts later in life
  • Moments of feeling lost, unmotivated, or disconnected, even when things seem “fine” on the outside

You don’t have to navigate these shifts alone. Sometimes, just having a space to reflect and feel supported can change how you experience the journey.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Transitions often stir up more than just surface-level stress. They can reactivate old patterns, fears, or emotions that deserve gentle attention.

Depending on your needs, your therapist may integrate:

  • Grounding tools and practical strategies, for navigating day-to-day challenges during transition
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to foster greater resilience, emotional flexibility, and clarity of values
  • Psychodynamic therapy, to explore the emotional impact of change and how it connects to your past
  • Attachment-based approaches, to help rebuild safety and connection during times of uncertainty
  • Emotionally focused therapy, to develop resilience and emotional clarity
  • Narrative therapy, to help you understand and reshape the story you’re telling yourself

We work with you at your own pace, offering structure without pressure.

Emotional Wellbeing Check

An Emotional Wellbeing Check is a 30 minute consultation to give you an overview of how you are doing with your psychological wellbeing. It will highlight key areas of your wellness and give an indication as to whether there are any areas of your life that would benefit from some attention. Like any other health check up, an emotional wellbeing check is an important part of staying on top of your mental health. With no commitment to engaging in regular therapy, this service offers a useful measure of your overall emotional wellbeing.

When might an emotional wellbeing check be beneficial?

  • Something feels “off”, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is
  • You are considering embarking on therapy, but you remain uncertain as to whether this would be beneficial for you
  • You have a history of mental health difficulties and want to stay on top of your emotional wellbeing

Following the wellbeing check you will be provided with a brief summary report with recommendations from Dr Shamarel. As this is not a service that insurance companies typically reimburse for, you will not be given a formal diagnosis.
