Explore Who You Are, Beyond Expectations

Living in a dynamic, multicultural city like Dubai can be exciting—but it can also bring confusion about identity, life direction, and personal values. Whether you’re a student, professional, or expat navigating transitions or inner questions, identity and self-discovery therapy helps you connect with who you truly are.

At MapleTree Psychotherapy Center, we offer a safe and inclusive space to explore your beliefs, values, gender identity, cultural identity, life goals, and sense of self—without judgment or pressure.

Our Therapeutic Approach

At MapleTree, our psychologists use integrative methods that support your unique journey:

  • Person-Centered Therapy – Prioritizes your perspective, pace, and autonomy in therapy
  • Existential Therapy – Helps explore life’s deeper questions about purpose, identity, and meaning
  • Narrative Therapy – Reframes your life story to highlight strengths and resilience
  • Psychodynamic Therapy – Examines how past experiences shape your current identity and choices
  • Affirmative Therapy – Supports clients navigating gender, sexuality, and cultural identity in a safe and affirming way
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) – Challenges negative self-beliefs and fosters more adaptive thinking
  • Attachment-Based Therapy – Heals identity shaped by early relationships.
  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) uncovers the true self beneath adaptive defenses.

Emotional Wellbeing Check

An Emotional Wellbeing Check is a 30 minute consultation to give you an overview of how you are doing with your psychological wellbeing. It will highlight key areas of your wellness and give an indication as to whether there are any areas of your life that would benefit from some attention. Like any other health check up, an emotional wellbeing check is an important part of staying on top of your mental health. With no commitment to engaging in regular therapy, this service offers a useful measure of your overall emotional wellbeing.

When might an emotional wellbeing check be beneficial?

  • Something feels “off”, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is
  • You are considering embarking on therapy, but you remain uncertain as to whether this would be beneficial for you
  • You have a history of mental health difficulties and want to stay on top of your emotional wellbeing

Following the wellbeing check you will be provided with a brief summary report with recommendations from Dr Shamarel. As this is not a service that insurance companies typically reimburse for, you will not be given a formal diagnosis.
