Finding Your Way Through Change, One Step at a Time

No one enters a relationship thinking about how it might end — and when separation or divorce happens, the emotional fallout can feel overwhelming. Even if the decision was mutual, even if it feels like the “right” thing, endings bring grief, uncertainty, anger, relief, guilt — often all tangled together.

At MapleTree Psychotherapy Center Dubai, we provide a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals and couples navigating the emotional, practical, and relational challenges of separation. Whether you’re in the middle of a decision, adjusting to a new chapter, or processing complex feelings months or even years after a breakup — you don’t have to do it alone.

How Divorce & Separation Counseling Can Help

This work isn’t just about “moving on.” It’s about honoring your experiences, making sense of the losses, and finding a path forward that feels true to you.

In counseling, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Process complex emotions like sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, fear, or relief
  • Clarify your identity as it shifts outside the relationship
  • Learn emotional coping strategies to manage grief, anxiety, and loneliness
  • Navigate co-parenting dynamics (if children are involved)
  • Create healthy communication boundaries with an ex-partner
  • Find meaning, growth, and resilience as you move into your next chapter

This isn’t about rushing healing or forcing forgiveness — it’s about moving at your own pace, with guidance and support.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Our psychotherapists take an emotionally attuned, integrative approach using:

  • Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), for individuals and couples to navigate the pain of divorce and separation, fostering healing, emotional resilience, and healthier future relationships
  • Attachment-focused therapy, particularly helpful if separation has triggered abandonment fears or emotional disconnection
  • Conflict resolution and boundary-setting coaching, if ongoing interaction with an ex-partner is necessary
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy, to explore attachment patterns, grief, identity loss, and deeper relational wounds
  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques, to manage overwhelm and emotional spikes

If you’re navigating legal proceedings, custody arrangements, or financial decisions, our role is to walk beside you—offering emotional clarity, steadiness, and support through each step of the process.

Who We Help

We support:

  • Individuals navigating separation or divorce, whether the process is recent or historical
  • Couples considering or going through separation, needing a structured space for conversations
  • Parents navigating shared custody, communication, and co-parenting adjustments
  • Expats in Dubai, managing separation while living far from home, extended family, or familiar legal systems

Our clinicians offer therapy in English, Arabic, French, Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, and Finnish — ensuring that you can express your feelings in the way that feels most natural to you.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

Separation is not just a legal change — it’s an emotional journey.
If you’re ready to start finding steadier ground, we invite you to Meet Our Team, Find a Therapist, or Contact Us to schedule an initial session.

There is healing on the other side of this — and it begins with giving yourself the space to feel, reflect, and move forward with care.

Emotional Wellbeing Check

An Emotional Wellbeing Check is a 30 minute consultation to give you an overview of how you are doing with your psychological wellbeing. It will highlight key areas of your wellness and give an indication as to whether there are any areas of your life that would benefit from some attention. Like any other health check up, an emotional wellbeing check is an important part of staying on top of your mental health. With no commitment to engaging in regular therapy, this service offers a useful measure of your overall emotional wellbeing.

When might an emotional wellbeing check be beneficial?

  • Something feels “off”, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is
  • You are considering embarking on therapy, but you remain uncertain as to whether this would be beneficial for you
  • You have a history of mental health difficulties and want to stay on top of your emotional wellbeing

Following the wellbeing check you will be provided with a brief summary report with recommendations from Dr Shamarel. As this is not a service that insurance companies typically reimburse for, you will not be given a formal diagnosis.
